Our Team

Daphine Namara, MD, MPH, Global Health Fellow
CEO & Co-founder, ACHI Healthcare
Dr. Namara is a passionate advocate for global health equity, driven by her unwavering commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to quality healthcare, especially in underserved communities. With her qualifications as a Medical Doctor and a Master of Public Health, she brings a unique blend of clinical experience, research expertise, and policy knowledge to her work. Her research has spanned both Uganda and the United States, addressing critical issues in HIV prevention and management, along with the intersection of non-communicable and infectious diseases. Her findings have been published in the International Journal of STD & AIDS, highlighting the urgent need for equitable healthcare access.
Recognizing this pressing need in Africa and inspired by her own personal and professional experiences, Dr. Namara co-founded ACHI Healthcare. Through this initiative, she is dedicated to advancing global health equity and addressing the complexities surrounding non-communicable and infectious diseases, as well as health and aging. Dr. Namara is eager to connect with individuals and organizations that share her vision of driving positive change in healthcare accessibility and quality, fostering a collaborative approach to improving health outcomes for all.
Dr.Namara is a graduate of Makerere University School of Medicine and University of California, School of Public Health, and an alum of the US NIH- Fogarty International Centers’ Global Health Equity Scholars Program.

Kassaga James Arinaitwe, MPH/MA, Aspen Institute Global Innovator
Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) & Co-founder
Kassaga is a dedicated leader in sustainable development, passionately committed to empowering underserved communities. With a proven track record in strategy, social enterprise development, investments, funding partnerships, strategic communication, and project management, he has made significant contributions across the US, Asia, and Africa. As the emeritus CEO and co-founder of Teach for Uganda, a leading organization focused on transforming education in the country, Kassaga has demonstrated his commitment to fostering young leaders. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor at Teach for All and is the Founder and Team Lead at Madiba Leadership Consults, a firm aimed at promoting sustainable development and leadership across Africa.
At ACHI Healthcare, Kassaga applies his extensive expertise to lead strategic initiatives and partnerships, ensuring that quality, affordable preventative care is accessible to everyone, especially those most in need. His passion for leveraging innovative models and forging strategic partnerships drives his mission to create a healthier and more equitable future for all.
Kassaga holds a Master of Public Health from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Sustainable Development from the SIT Graduate Institute in Washington. Additionally, he is recognized as an Aspen Institute Global Innovator, further underscoring his commitment to impactful change in global health and development.

Shadia K. Ustaaz
Chief Medical Officer
Medical Doctor, Mandarin speaking with 4 years experience working in both public and private sector. A former medical superintendent at City Medicals/ City Ambulance Buliisa offering rapid response emergency services, occupational health assessments and being adaptable in high-risk environment of the oil and gas region.
Shadia holds a medical degree from Jiang Su University, China. She is ACLS, ITLS and MIMMS Certified.

Esther Kubakurungi
Enrolled Nurse - Head of department
Enrolled Nurse with 3 years experience in clinical practice at Rubaga Hospital, Georgwell doctors’ hospital and ACHI Healthcare offering nursing care both in- hospitals and home based. Involved in community outreach programs sensitizing people about the common communicable and non communicable diseases.
Esther is an Enrolled Nurse from St. Micheal Rubaga Hospital Training Schools.

Esther Eunice Awori
Laboratory Technologist
Biomedical Laboratory Technologist with 2 years experience in clinical research and laboratory work with expertise in microbiology, Haematology and Clinical Chemistry. Volunteered with Mariestopes Uganda Limited.
Awori holds a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology from Makerere University.

Sam Bob Enyang
Financial Advisor
A seasoned finance professional with over nine years of leadership experience in financial management, compensation strategies, and benefits administration across diverse sectors including international NGOs. Proven ability to enhance financial operations, optimize budgets, and lead high-performing teams.
Strong expertise in financial reporting, cost management, and financial systems integration, with a particular focus on total rewards strategies in multi-country African contexts. Adept at navigating complex financial landscapes and committed to leveraging expertise to drive growth and operational efficiency. I have consistently demonstrating leadership in financial strategy, governance, and compliance.

Jonathan Mwongeirwe
Nursing Officer
Jonathan holds a certificate in Nursing and Midwifery from St. Francis Hospital Nsambya . He is registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council, with an experience of one and a half years , able to perform nursing procedures and taking part in disease management .
He has trained and acquired more knowledge in the department of immunization from St. Francis Hospital Nsambya and Kisugu Health Centre III , hence being able to take part in the immunization practice.
